NEW SIGNING

Dávid Sigér becomes a red and blue

Our club has signed the 14-time capped Hungarian national team midfielder.

Dávid Sigér was born on the 30th November 1990 in Debrecen. The 175 cm tall midfielder started playing football for DVSC, where he also played on loan in Téglás, Létavértes, Mezőkövesd and Balmazújváros. He was bought out of his contract by Balmazújváros in 2015, and as captain of the team they achieved a historic feat in the 2016/2017 season, winning promotion to the NB I. In his first season in the top flight he was on the pitch almost all the time and scored 4 goals, but the newcomers Balmazújváros suffered relegation.

He was then signed by Ferencváros in the summer of 2018, where he celebrated a league title in his first season, and his goal against MTK was voted Goal of the Year at the M4 Sport - Sportsman of the Year gala. With FTC, they won five championship titles in a row (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023), and in 2022 they also won the MOL Hungarian Cup. During his time in Ferencváros, he also gained significant European cup experience, having played in the Champions League group stage in one season, the Europa League group stage twice and the European Conference League group stage once - in the latter two series, they also managed to qualify for the knockout rounds. In 2019, he also scored in the EL group stage in a 2-2 draw against Espanyol. He has played in 135 league games in the NB I so far, scoring 13 goals and providing 9 assists.

He made his debut for the Hungarian national team under Marco Rossi in September 2019. As a player for the national team, he has also played in the 2021 European Championship, which was partly hosted at home, but has also played in World Cup and European Championship qualifiers, Nations League matches and friendlies - the midfielder, nicknamed Modric, has made 14 appearances for the national team and scored once (against Turkey in the Nations League).

"During the meetings, I had a very good feeling that I would be welcome in Fehérvár. When I was here as a guest, I was always impressed by the environment. I'm happy to continue my career at a prestigious and strong club that has achieved good results at home and international level, and I'm confident that I will have a similar role in this new era. I remember I played in the old stadium as a Mezőkövesd player, we came to Fehérvár with the intention to draw 0-0 - we almost managed it (laughs - ed.). A lot has happened since then. I'm very happy to have arrived in the NB I, to have been transferred from Balmazújváros to Ferencváros, to have played international matches, to have been invited to the national team - I can remember very nice moments. But I don't want to stop here! I feel a lot of energy, I am capable of achieving more big goals in a team where they want the same as I do" - said Dávid Sigér after signing the contract.

Dávid Sigér terminated his contract with FTC on the 31st January and has now joined the club as a free agent, where he will play in the 18 shirt.
